- 95 participants, 22 participant-led sessions, keynote and plenary sessions, 2 hot lunches, 2 days... it was a great success! For more information,
check out:
- Where's the wiki?
- Here!
- Who can attend?
- The conference is open to all professionals and students interested in user-centered information and design issues. Whether you're a librarian, information architect, technical writer, usability engineer, interaction designer, cataloger, or information science researcher, this conference will have something for you. ASIS&T or IA Institute membership is not required, although active members of those organizations may register for free.
- Who will be presenting?
- With the exception of the keynote speaker (Nick Finck) and plenary speaker (Bob Boiko), no one... and everyone. The point of the BarCamp format is to have no spectators --
everyone becomes a participant. Since conference sessions
will be determined on the spot according to interest and demand, all attendees are encouraged to debate a topic, solicit feedback on a design, demo a half-baked product, discuss research findings, or brainstorm an idea.
- What if I don't have an idea for what to present?
- Attend anyway! You're sure to have an opinion or question about what's being presented, so you can participate
by joining in the discussion. And who knows - maybe the discussions will spark an idea that you want to share or
present as the weekend goes on!
- How much will it cost me?
- The registration fee is $20, but ASIS&T members, IAI members, students, and volunteers get in free (proof of membership or active student status is required).
- Will there be free food?
- Yes! On both days, a continental breakfast, a hot lunch (sponsored by Ginger Palace on Saturday), and coffee, tea, soda, water, etc., will be provided, on
site, at no extra charge. Participants are welcome (but not required) to bring food
or drink to share.
- What can I expect this weekend?
- This document will give you an idea of what to expect.
- How can I get involved?
